We are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable member of our team to fill the front-of-house (FOH) role of Host
Job Title: Host, Front of House (FOH)
Job Summary: This position is responsible for greeting customers, handling transactions as a cashier, stocking and inventory of retail and deli shelves, providing excellent customer service, maintaining a warm and inviting space for all, opening and closing our FOH space, and supporting all FOH operations for the establishment. You will work alongside the FOH manager and our kitchen staff to succeed in the above responsibilities.
This role requires a friendly demeanor, attentiveness, the capacity to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment, and will provide opportunities for dynamic growth of skills and responsibilities.
Host Responsibilities:
Work closely with our FOH Manager to ensure outstanding customer service is provided throughout our business hours.
Greet customers and take their orders, provide recommendations, and answer any questions they may have.
Handle cash and operate the cash register, ensuring accurate transactions.
Bagging up all perishable, deli, and retail items for customers.
Handling and boxing baked goods for customers.
Maintaining cleanliness of the counter area, bakery case, deli case, dining areas, and storage spaces.
Stock and replenish supplies as needed.
Follow opening and closing checklists provided by the FOH manager.
Communicate with kitchen staff to track wait times and take note of kitchen capacity.
Host Qualifications:
Prior experience in the Food Service Industry in a customer-facing role.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions with accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to assist in various areas of the cafe and deli as needed such as:
Running food and drink orders from the kitchen to customers
Help with cafe beverages such as drip coffee and teas
Packaging deli items
Stamping paper bags and pricing retail/market items
Host Expectations:
Part-time (Approx. 20 hours/week starting)
3 days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Morning to Afternoon (830/900AM to 400PM)
All members of our staff are expected to come into work unimpaired, ready to work, function as a team player, and to have a positive attitude.
This position requires standing for extended periods and working in a busy cafe and deli setting. The ideal candidate should be comfortable multitasking and interacting with customers throughout their shift. Reasonable exceptions and accommodations will be provided for disability or with a doctor’s note.
Compensation and Benefits:
17/hr min, includes team shared tip pool (proportional to hours worked/week)
One free meal and one free cafe beverage per shift worked.
Discounts on retail, market, and deli items.
